Season: 12 Episode: 178
Summary:
How do you talk to someone about God when they think His existence is on par with the Easter bunny? Can apathetic Christians inspire the next generation to see their need for God? Janell Wood and I discuss why more people in America don’t know, don’t care, and don’t want God to exist. Janell works with foreign exchange students from all over the world and gives us great advice on what Gen Z is looking for when it comes to finding something real. Listen to Janell’s podcast to hear these authentic and life changing conversations.

About Janell
Janell Wood loves to have honest, imperfect, conversations about faith and Jesus Christ. She has a Masters degree in Counseling Psychology, and a background in advocacy and ministry. Janell is a writer, speaker, high school foreign exchange coordinator, and host of the ‘Finding Something REAL’ podcast- a grace-filled journey for young women who have faith questions or objections. She lives in Eastern Washington with her husband (the kindest man she knows), four kids, and (often) a teenage exchange daughter. In her free time, she can be found watching vintage television with her family and avoiding the kitchen.

Question One
You have a heart for the girl questioning her faith. How often do you experience this and what made you make this your focus for your podcast?
Question Two
What is the outcome of those girls who have questions about faith? Do you follow up with them or do they contact you later to discuss what they’re doing now?
Question Three
You said girls you talk to are either skeptical about their faith or think God is on par with the Easter Bunny. I think this is a generational trend among Gen Zers (especially). Why do you think that is and what do Christians who are confident in their faith need to do to change this?
Question Four
If Christians don’t answer these young people’s questions about their faith, what does that person usually do or where do they turn to find the answers?
Question Five
Christians can both be apathetic toward what they believe in general in both ways – toward talking to others about God OR even not really caring about what they truly believe. Are these both dangerous positions to be in.
