“Do you really love me, or are you just saying this because that’s what you’ve been taught?”
I heard God speak this into my heart on my high school campus when I was just a 17-year-old girl. I was so used to ending my prayers with, “I love you, God” that I assumed it was enough to nonchalantly repeat these words again.
But not on this day.
The question that fired back at me wasn’t audible. It was that still small voice we so often hear God whispers in. It grabbed my attention even as hundreds of students hurried past me to get to the next class.
There was no pastor around to tell me what I already knew … I didn’t know God. I knew about Him.
A shallow knowledge of God was no longer enough.
I had a decision to make: I could either tell the truth and admit I didn’t love God, or I could go on doing the church thing.
I decided to be honest in that moment and say to God with fear, “I don’t love you because I don’t know you. Help me know you.” That was the day I began my personal relationship with the Lord.
Know what you believe and why you believe it!
My problem was that I knew what I beleived, but I didn’t know why. I was like many Christians raised in church or faithful to church-going. We sit in the pews, sing our songs and disconnect the Word we hear on Sunday to the world we live on Monday.
So what was missing?
Christians are people of a book. The Bible is God’s special revelation to His church. The world is God’s general revleation to all. He exists and there is good evidence to believe in Him, know Him, and articulate that knowledge to the rest of the world.
Christian apologetics helped fill in the gaps of my knowledge while giving me a way to articulate my trust in who God is.
Through my podcast, blogs, and social media posts, I take cultural issues and tackle them with biblical truth. If you are the average, ordinary, everyday Christian who wants to know what you believe AND why you believe it, you’re in the right place.
Journey together with me to increase your knowledge of God and weave the Word into your world!
Statement of Faith
What I Believe:
The Bible is the infallible word of God.
In one God eternally existing in three persons; namely, the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.
That Jesus Christ is the only begotten Son of the Father, conceived of the Holy Ghost, and born of the Virgin Mary.
Salvation is by grace alone, through faith in Jesus Christ.
The Holy Spirit is in every believer and is a seal of our inheritance in Jesus Christ.
That God created male and female and designed marriage as a holy union between a man and a woman.
This Statement of Faith is not an exhaustive list of beliefs. The Bible is the final authority on all things pertaining to truth and morality.
