Season: 13 Episode: 186
Summary:
How important is Genesis to Christianity? It depends on who you ask. Many Christians believe Adam and Eve weren’t real historical figures. Some don’t believe Genesis is foundational to our understanding of Christianity. Albert Leon is on the show to discuss Genesis 1-11. We break up these chapters into: Creation, Fall 1 (Adam and Eve), Fall 2 (The Flood), Fall 3 (Babel). Get your note taking tools out. It’s going to be a great discussion and educational too.

Question One
Why is Genesis important to Christianity and why do some dismiss it? Some say Adam and Eve are not literal people in history.
Question Two
Let’s talk about the comparison of Genesis to other mythical stories cross culturally. CS Lewis says every myth has similarities and Christianity is a myth (in the correct sense of the word, which we need to define), but that is it is a myth that became a fact. CS Lewis thought of Christianity as a myth like all other myths, so he makes the case that it is both a myth and a fact. We can expand on this with some of the stories that compare and why Genesis is different.
Question Three
Why do we look put Genesis into sections like 1-11 and 12-50?
Question Four
Let’s talk about the significance of the “main events” of 1-11:
a. Creation
b. Fall
c. Flood
d. Babel
