Season: 13 Episode: 186
Summary:
Just because your kid is sitting in church every Sunday doesn’t mean your kid is becoming a follower of Christ. Many parents assume their engaged and involved teen is sold out for Jesus, only to realize after the first semester of college that assuming he followed Jesus wasn’t evidence enough. Ricky, a youth pastor and ministry leader, is on the show to talk about the challenges of discipling students in the 21st century. He shares the most prominent influences competing for the minds of our youth and what the church can do to change it.

Question One
Do you agree that everyone is a disciple and is being discipled? Why or why not?
Question Two
What were the challenges of being a youth pastor to students you only had for a few hours out of the week? How did you ensure they were being discipled?
Question Three
Do you think the church only looks at discipleship within the context of Christianity? If so, why?
Question Four
Dr. George Barna, researcher at Arizona Christian University, said that the major worldview in the US is syncretism (a combination of beliefs from many worldviews). What are the influences causing Christians to believe they can believe in God and some New Age? Or they can believe in Heaven but not Hell, as the Bible tells us?
Question Five
What does the church need to realize when it comes to making disciples today? Because I would argue that the model is the same, regardless of age.
