It all started on an ordinary Monday evening. A simple gathering with friends at a coffee shop in our town. We looked forward to the get together every week and knew it was God’s way of bringing Proverbs 27:17 to life amongst a group of cross-fitters.
As I sat there at the table, facilitating a bible study for our group, one of the women asked me a question. It was about Adam, Eve, and how God designed the man and woman.
Questions arose about why we struggle with imperfection, our roles as men and women, and what God expects from us now.
And there it was! Inspiration for the Bible study, “Reflections of Eve”.
On Saturday, I celebrated the launch of this Bible study. Reflections of Eve is for the woman who sees herself in both the perfections of Eve and the imperfections of her fallen nature. She longs for purpose and value. And she needs encouragement for today and strength to walk in the purpose she was created for.
And the author? Hey! That’s me!
I’m not a genius. I’m no one special. I wasn’t born to famous parents. I don’t have a doctorate degree and I didn’t attend seminary.
I’m just an average girl with the sense of a humor of a fifth grader. But there is one thing that sets me apart … a love for God’s word. It’s as simple as that … A nobody who loves God’s word.
And to be honest, I’m glad I’m a nobody. I don’t ever want to be anything more than that.
Do you know why? Because when you see me, I want you to be reminded that if God can use me He can use you. If He can take my life .. a girl who wasn’t planned and one who hasn’t accomplished any great fetes, then He can take your life and do amazing things with it.
I’m not a professional. On the days leading up to the launch, I was so nervous. What do I say? What do I do if someone asks me to sign their book? Do I only write my name?
I mean, really!! My handwriting is so ugly when I’m nervous, you guys!
But it doesn’t matter where we come from, what we do or how we know each other. We all face the temptations of the garden. Life is a lot like Eden … it’s beautiful. It has it’s ups and downs. It has it’s temptations and pleasures. But if we hold onto God’s Word, we won’t reach for the things we shouldn’t have.
I See You!
I want to thank each and every one of you who came to the launch, read my blogs, like my page, comment on my social media, and have joined my group. Not ONE … I repeat … NOT ONE of you goes unnoticed. God has taught me to appreciate, seek out and care about the ONE. That’s you!
I read each and every one of your kind words and reviews and as I sat on my little couch in my writing room, tears streamed down my cheeks. As I write this, I get emotional at all the pink slips with your beautiful words on them.
I am humbled and in aw of those God has given me to cheer me on. And so, I will return the cheers. I will cheer on the women in my life and lift you up. I will pray for you and make mention of you in my prayers.
For whatever reason, God has called me to lead this small pack of mine. And I say “small pack” with pride because God does not despise the small things, and neither do I.
Every Girl Has Her Troop!
I want to thank my mom and MIL, Debi, for everything they do and did for me to make Saturday a special event. Where would I be without you? Debi, you take my ideas and literally bring them to life. You are a creative genius!
Mama (yes, I call my mom mama), you calm me and you are one of my biggest fans. Every mom is their child’s fan, but you win!
To the other unsung hero in my life: my little sister, Jamie. You are always at my side at every event. You are the small picture person in my big picture world and I’m so glad you see the vision. I love you!
To my best friend, Adriana: you have been handpicked for me by our God. He knew I needed someone to do stupid things with like get quads stuck in the mud, make up dumb dances with and talk about Jesus and problems, and everything in between. Thank you for sticking with me and for promoting the book signing.
To my Monday night ladies whom I call friends: gosh! I love you, ladies! I love our crossfit talk and conversations and celebrations of babies and weddings and life! It all started with us.
Happy One Year Anniversary!
And so, my friends .. it seems fitting that I celebrate one year of this blog space by launching a Bible study. I pray for another great year of talking about God’s word and allowing Him to perfect us as we live this life together.
Come See Me!!!!
